As the title says - will a clean install have any effect on warranty? I wouldnt think so, since warranty is for hardware?

I am guessing if you send it in for warranty work they will only work on it with a factory software install?

And finally which warranty would you consider the best price point for a T400? I guess the question is which piece of hardware needs to fail for the warranty to be worth it?

    TIA

The warranty includes software support as well as long as you're running the OS your machine came with.

What about the best price-point for warranty duration and/or type of warranty?

Superduty, my opinion is get the 3 yr ONSITE (not depot) warranty for $164. Basically, that's $5 a month for decent piece of mind on an important purchase - I think. That will provide the desired effect without affecting your wallet too badly. :)

Ya the onsite isnt too much more for 3 years. However, I went with depot since I can do all the user repairs myself easily enough.
