    Will knowing machine type give any indication of components?

    Will knowing the machine type without the actual serial number give enought information to identify the supplier of the components, specifically keyboard and screen?

    No, you have to have the serial.

    Even having the serial number, there may be a chance you will not have a proper FRU number to look up your LCD...

    Why does everybody care so much about who the supplier of the screen is? Will knowing this make it automagically seem superior or inferior? No! It'll stay the same. Please don't call Levono about this because you'll tie up their phone lines.
