I know the driver by lenovo has a conflict with SP1. SP1 came out about a month ago and lenovo has still not come out with a new update for this driver conflict. It's getting a little rediculous. They updated the XP driver for the x3100 in March, but have not updated vista's x3100 driver since november. Shouldn't they be working on updating the drivers for the new operating system?

Why don't you go to www.intel.com and download the latest drivers from there?

Here's how to install the intel driver:
    - Download the latest *.exe driver package from intel (32bit or 64bit, depending on your vista)
    - Manually uninstall the Lenovo version of the driver (otherwise it will say the intel driver isn't certified for your computer). Reboot.
    - Install the intel driver from the *.exe package. Reboot.
    - Install SP1 - it will reboot many times for you :D

If the screen brightness OSD is gone after all this, update your Lenovo BIOS and Hotkey driver. At least that worked for me.

Well, I've had SP1 on my comp since it came out. I updated the x3100 driver through the Intel website.

The screen brightness OSD doesn't work, but that's not really my issue. Everytime I unplug or plug the computer in, the screen flickers black a few times before the display comes up. Sometimes, when I resume from sleep my mouse cursor does not show up and I'll have to put it to sleep again and resume.

Nothing major, just little annoying issues. Lenovo is a pretty big company, It shouldn't be too difficult to release a driver that works with SP1.

This might not be the same symptom you have described (as you say it happens on resume from sleep, not at start), but just in case. I never use an external monitor and found this to be a perfect tweak.

    from this post http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3945

    1. Disable TMM

This tweak is responsible for about a 3-5 second delay and blank screen flash when you start Vista. It searches for external monitors but is unnecessary.

If you are not using an external monitor, or don't switch back and forth always then turn TMM off. This is responsible for a 3-5 second pause and blank flash you get when turning your computer on.

Here's how to fix that annoying black flicker on boot:

    1. Go start/control panel/administrative options/task scheduler.
    1. On the left-hand side, click "Task Scheduler Local" (you should already be there, but just in case).
    2. Expand "Task Scheduler Library," then "Microsoft," then "Windows," then click "MobilePC."
    3. Up top, you'll see a task called "TMM." Click it, and on the right-hand side, click "Disable."
    4. You're done!

Start time reduced and blank flash gone!!!!

I tried to install the driver from intel a couple days ago, but windows update will keep telling me to update my driver software (back to the older version). Not only that, there was definitely something wrong after I upgraded to the latest driver. The laptop acts slow and actually froze up during shut down. I went right back to the other driver and will wait longer for SP1.

Here is a direct link for the Intel display drivers/Vista 32 bit

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/con...All&OSFullName=All Operating Systems&lang=eng

Once you install this driver, should be able to use windows update for
Sp1,unless of course you have some other driver conflict.
While I'm at it,here is the link for Upek FingerPrint Scanner as well

I had the same issues (with a Lenovo X300). I installed the most recent Intel display driver from their website (by first manually uninstalling the Lenovo driver). My notebook also stalled while shutting down (I had to power off manually), but the driver seemed to work, maybe. However, Windows Update kept trying to install another Intel driver, which failed (with an error indicated a driver with higher compatibility may already be installed).

I was able to install the Windows Update driver by manually uninstalling the Intel driver before using Windows Update, and reinstall the new Intel driver on top of that, after which Windows Update seemed to be quite happy. I've also updated the fingerprint driver. I've installed all Windows Updates and Lenovo updates, but no combination makes SP1 show up on Windows Update, so I guess must have some other conflict.

I've renistalled the original Lenovo graphics driver to be on the safe side, and I guess I'll just wait...

I had a strange problem with my "new video driver", after update there appeared
a very high sound, it was VERY crazy and annoying.. finally i realized that it might be because of it.. and i re-installed one that came from factory... it works fine now... why should i bother with new driver?

    ps: it was XP pro...
