I'm going to say mistake...I doubt that even lenovo could cram a X1800 in a 15" notebook...
    But, I could be wrong.

I doubt it, also the x1800 is obsolete since the x1900 is already out.

I think somebody pressed an 8 instead of a 7...

The T60p already has an x1700 (v5250) so its reasonable to assume that the T61 will also have the same or similar.

I agree, the T60 is barely over an inch thick and is already one of the smallest and lightest 14.1-15.4 notebooks out there so an x1800(unless seriously modified) would burn it up most likely. The X1700 might be an option. hears to hoping there will be a DX10 GPU :D

Is there any significant differences in size between x1700 and x1800 card? Shouldnt be ATI create x1800 mobile version that will fit onto notebook platform?

    It's all over the net,
They can do it,but it'll turn the Thinkpad into a good imitation of cinders...
    Or a very noisy tractor...

I would highly doubt that the x1800 makes it into the T61(p).
Why? It is somewhat outdated. There is already x1900 in existence in 17" FuSi Amilo`s DTR-s. Both of them are hot and would gobble the battery up too fast. If ASUS can cram Intel`s Conroe desktop processors into a 15,4" notebook or a Go7700 into a 14" package (A8Js), doesn't mean Lenovo/IBM can. ASUS is ASUS, lol :D
Besides the design constraints would be less-than-desireable in a business notebook, such as a really big and/or noisy fan to cool the CPU, chipset and the hot powerful GPU/VPU. Just look at the ASUS C90`s cooling system, there is no place for it in a notebook such as a T61.

Lenovo already puts the ATI Mobility Fire GL V5250 256MB video card into their Lenovo T60. This is a slight variation, but it is equally powerful to the ATI X1700 and the GeForce Go 7700. ASUS is nothing special.

The V5250 is exactly the same as the x1700. It just has CAD optimized drivers.

Yep. Lenovo might combine that video card with a WSXGA+ screen on their T61. If they do, it will be the most powerful 14.1" laptop available for what I need. The most powerful laptop varies depending on use, but prefer large resolution screens and this will have the largest for a 14.1" laptop.

There is currently talk on thinkpads.com forums that the T61 will actually have nvidia quadro graphics rather than ATI. So this discussion may be moot.

It might be the nVidia Quadro NVS 300M which is slightly weaker than the ATI Mobility Fire GL V5250. As long as the T61 has the WSXGA+ screen I am happy  .

The nVidia Quadro NVS 110M or 120M depending on the option.

I never seen any Thinkpad that uses a Nvdia card so it's pretty doubtful.
