Hi,
I was just wondering if you can stick a 320 gb Sata drive on the T400? I was thinking of getting an ultrabay drive enclosure and moving the 160 gb drive installed on the machine to the ultrabay, since I can get a 320 GB Seagate for a bit over $100; I'm sure it's a much better drive than the hitachi or whatever ships with the T400. Has anyone had experience with running a HD in the ultrabay? Does it chew into battery life at all?

it will work. however I don't have this setup so I can't answer any other questions.

Any standard 2.5" SATA laptop hard drive will work. The storage space and speed of the particular drive is irrelevant, except for some minimal effects it may have on the heat and battery life.
-
The drive thickness is also important. There are two sizes ~12 mm and 9.5 mm. The 9.5 mm drives will work with no problems.
-
The only real current 12mm models are the Hitachi 500GB 5400RPM.

Very good. Thanx. I was wondering about the heat issue, but since it does already ship with a 7200 it must be able to handle the extra heat generated.

Will the T400 take a 320 gig 7200 sata drive?
