I'm moving away for university and I cannot bring my gaming PC with me, one of these laptops will have to be able to play games (moderately) and do some school work. I will not be running two video cards because I will need the disc drive. I'm on a budget of around 1 grand. Also I was wondering does Lenovo ship from Canada when ordering from their website?

If the laptop would fit my needs please let me know what model I should be buying, I've read so many different things online I don't know what to think anymore.

If youre not running SLI, get the Y510p to gain the benefits of Optimus technology+Haswell to save battery life.

If youre running SLI, get a y500 to save money.

I'd recommend getting the SLI version of the laptop anyway. Especially since Lenovo doesn't have the best track record of providing sufficient inventory or shipping out the correct part, if you were to ever try and buy a GeForce 750M Ultrabay module in the future as an aftermarket upgrade.

If you need an optical drive, you can always buy a USB drive for $30.

Get the y510p with single card, you are a student so space and an independent machine is a must have for you, whats that of having an usb drive everywhere? You will be a student not a pro gamer. I just said the reality.

    Best wishes for you !
