    Ok everyone,

I have a t60 laptop with the removable CD-RW/DVD-RW drive.

We have just bought an X61, and need to install XP from a CD onto it.

Because the X61 does not have a CD drive, I would like to use my removable drive from the T60, place it in an external enclosure, and install the OS via the USB CD drive.

Will this work for me (work with and allow to boot from my t60's removable optical drive)?

One more question, is the x61 capable of booting from all USB external drives, or does it have to be a special usb enclosure?

    thanks
    sean

That one should work as it says it's made for a T60.

The x61 should be able to boot from ANY USB optical drive. No special one (e.g. Lenovo branded) is required.

    Dear Sean,
Unless I'm real wrong, it'll boot as long as there is a bootable image on the disk and the disk is visible to the system.
