I can't say for sure if that will work or not, I know the T61 uses the ultrabay or something like that...

Anyway, I can tell you how to remove your CD-RW/DVD. There is a little movable tab next to the CD-RW drive, move it towards the back of the laptop and another, larger tab will pop out from under the drive. Give it a slight tug, not too hard but not too light either. Your drive will pop right out. You can pull the drive directly the rest of the way.

Putting it back in is as easy as pushing it back in and then pushing the tab back in.

Give it a shot, it's fun and easy.

The Samsung drive you listed will not fit.

The T61 has an Ultrabay Slim port, which supports drives up to 9.5mm in height. The Samsung, like the rest of the drives on Newegg, are the standard 12.7mm in height.

I agree. You should just get an ultrabay driver from Lenovo.

Yup, it won't fit. That is one reason I prefer the R series over the T series, because the T series uses ultraslim version of almost everything, from ultrabay battery to hdd.
