    Hi there,

does anyone know if this SSD ( OCZ Vertex 3 SATA III 2.5" ) will fit the upcoming X220 ? Also, does the X220 support SATA 3 for full 6 Gbps?

    Thanks!

X220 takes 7mm thick HDD and SSD.

    Just a heads up...

I just tried to put a Vertex 2 2.5" 240 GB ssd in my X220 and **it did NOT fit**. It was too thick.

See this thread for discussion of the suitable (ie 7mm thick) SSDs.

Yes it will fit, I'm now running a Vertex 3 240GB in my new X220.
To make it fit you CANNOT use the metal HDD surround and rubber sides from the original hard drive. It is a snug fit thus those are not needed.
    Runs SWEET.
