I would like to do a clean install on windows XP without all of the factory bloatware/third party crap/etc...

I found this thread Link but don't know how to execute for windows xp.

I am an intermediate user but realize that this takes a fair amount of knowledge and time as well as familiarity with drivers, etc...

For this reason, I will pay somebody $25 via paypal to help me successfully restore my X61 using a clean install without all of the third party crap.

I only ask that you have firsthand experience and have done this procedure in the past.

Thanks and look forward to working with you...

Did your laptop come with a copy of Windows XP? Are there any restore options when you boot your computer?

As I recall, the laptop came with XP preinstalled as a vista downgrade...

Did your laptop come with any disks? One of those is probably a clean version of XP. If not, when you boot up, does your computer ask you to press a key for repair options? There should be an option to install a clean version of XP from the repair options, if it does.

If you want to install a fresh XP, I recommend you use a Windows XP OEM for IBM/Lenovo Disk. I installed a clean XP for my W500 using the XP Disk (of my old T42) and everything was allright.

If you have xp preloaded on the laptop just uninstall the bloatware?

If you don't know how to execute xp from the cd, you have to go into bios and change the boot order.
