Hi... I have downloaded Ad-aware... I have tried running Norton... I've even tried using IBM's Back-up function to reboot my computer to previous settings. I cannot get rid of this WinFixer Bull****.

It's coming up all the time now, and crashing IE every time it opens up. In addition, my machine is running incredibly slow now... and my can't even go into standby mode anymore without frezzing and needing a hard reboot.

    I have a brand new IBM T43...

I just Downloaded HijackThis v1.99.1 but I dont really know what I'm doing. I ran a system scan, though... and here's what it reports. Can anyone help me repair my machine?!?!

Its as simple as doing a reformatt. I know you havent done that yet. Yeah, Winfixer is a big scam. I had it to but i got it away. So do a reformatt.

Before you do anything else, download and run Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE, Spybot - Search & Destroy and CCleaner. All very useful programs that will clean your system of nasty things you don't want on it. Google these and you'll find sites where you can download them. They are all freeware.

That's like killing the patient to cure the cancer. A reformat should be used as a last option, not a first response.

you might want to read this. it also has links in there as to where you can get Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D as well as some other useful stuff.

Not to take credit away from this forum, but there are other forums out there that can probably give you better help w/ HJT as they specialize in those (just like this specializes w/ notebooks). try checking out bleepingcomputer.com. they have helped me out once or twice w/ problems like this before.

p.s. not sure if im allowed to promote another forum or not. if not then someone just either let me know or just edit this post
