    HI,

I have x220t tablet with windows 7 professional. I would like to upgrade to windows 8 release preview edition.

Here is what i would like to do.

    1) I would like to make backup of my current system. In case windows 8 install run into issues or i dont like windows 8 i should be in a position to restore my system to exactly how it is currently including the drivers, favorites , everything. Like 100% how it was before install. I am planning to burn system image using windows 7. I would like to know if there is any other better way of doing this.

    2) I looked on lenovo website beta version of drivers are available.
Did anyone tried it. How do they work? And how to i know which all drivers i install.

    3) Is it better to install windows 8 on system by wiping windows 7. Or shall i install on a virtual box.

First of all, don't bother with the release preview edition. The real product is currently available to MSDN and TechNet subscribers, Volume License customers, etc. It will be available everywhere in 21 days. So you might as well start with the final bits.

If you want to do some testing, you might try the Enterprise Edition eval at Download Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation.

The Windows 7 Full System Backup/Restore should work to do what you want, but I use Acronis True Image Home 2012.

I have no idea when Lenovo is going to release drivers for all of the supported notebooks and tablets. The rumor is 10/15. I would wait until they do.

You last question is about native hardware versus being in a VM. Performance is typically better on native hardware.

Buy your self a cheap harddrive and drop it in, put the other one with its restore image on the shelf.
