OK, so the solution was that I had to boot from the disk, then I was able to format the hd and delete all previous partitions and then do a clean WIn7 install.
Next problem; downloaded Thinkvantage 4.0 system update. Programme did not attach to my ThinkVantage Blue Button and did not even work when I started it from my start menu where it was placed. All I got was the logo. Did an erase and new install with the same result.
There are no clues on the download page at

My TV Productivity Centre has the "Update My System" option in the menu. Did you try selecting 'Customize' to check that the "Update My System" option is ticked?
If you have correctly installed the TV System Update 4.0 software, it should launch properly when you click on the program. It works the same was as the old v3.0 (for Vista), but only 4.0 can be used for Win7. The installation is pretty straight forward so I don't know why it doesn't function correctly on your PC. -
Is this a question of first installing the Hotkey Features Integration? What about the Hot Key Driver, is that included in the Features Integration?

99% sure it was killed off for windows 7. My blue button launches the TV toolbox now.
-
-
So does mine, I think Toolbox is the succeeding offspring of the Productivity Suite and PC Doctor.
-
OK, you guys meant the Productivity Centre, got it. But the ThinkVantage Blue button is supposed to launch ThinkVantage!
-
All of the above are ThinkVantage applications..., right?
-
Your talking about the little menu that pops up right? Because that got canned.

-
That new toolbox software is such bloatware. Takes forever to load.
-
Agreed, it's now a sales tool for accessories and etc... But, I have not uninstalled it because there is a bit of utility in there...

I have a T61 with Windows 7, upgraded from Vista. The video drivers that i have for nVidia NVS 140M are of version 8.16.11.8694.
Although System Update does not find any new version of it, is there any newer version of these drivers so i can try ? -
The most recent driver is available at nvidia.com but it will break the on screen display for the volume, brightness, and etc. Not worth it IMO...
-
EDIT: I did the upgrade anyway and nothing got broken. -
Cool! I have not tried the latest driver. Glad to know it worked out for you...

Toolbox diagnostics says I am missing a driver for PCI-controller for simple communication, but Windows cannot locate it. Anyone knows how/where I find this driver and install?
System Update wants me to download/ install Intel AMT 4.2 - ME Interface driver, (Won't download - why?) Fix for Issue of HDD with HDP Detection for Windows Vista/7 (Won't install - why?)
Lenovo Fingerprint software was downloaded by system update and installed, problem with Fingerprint Enrollment - says cannot communciate with sensor, please confirm the sensor is ready. But how do I do that? Am I missing a driver? Did a manual download, during install I was asked by InstallShield Wizard to please insert the primary sensor and click OK to update your sensors PBA software, then says "did not find the primary sensor, update sensor's PBA software failed." Nothing to be found on Lenovo when searching for this. -
I got a tip at the Lenovo forum about a manual install of the AMT 4.2 Interface driver seems this solved the PCI controller problem. I wonder why it didnt want to download in the system update.
-
I am not sure about any of your issues. I do not use System Update to update my computer. I go to http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TPAD-MATRIX&sitestyle=lenovo and download the latest drivers and I install them manually. I have not experienced any of the issues you mention using this method...
-
I use both methods. New drivers and software always seem to take some time before System Update offers them up.
Lenovo customer service sucks. They're izing the good ThinkPad name and reputation. It's a good thing IBM still does the warranty. -
I have a T61 with Windows 7 and even though I installed w7 a while ago, I just noticed my webcam isn't working. I have the most current driver posted on Lenovo's site but it still isn't working. Device manager says everything is fine though. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, using different drivers, letting Windows auto install their own drivers - none of those methods have worked and I'm out of ideas.
Any help is greatly appreciated. -
Tread de-stickied. A link has been made in the main ThinkPad sticky.
