Oh dear, I seem to have difficulty using Windows 7 on my T61. The problem seems to relate to the Intel Windows 7 Graphics Driver (both 32 bit and 64 bit - I have tried both OS versions) where it just creates some artifacts on my screen and hang the whole system.
I tried looking for some Lenovo graphics drivers for the T61 on Windows 7 but only can seem to find as high up to Windows Vista. So I also tried using the latest drivers from Intel directly but the problem still persists. Has anyone suffered some strange glitches using the drivers in Windows 7 that crashes the whole system? My T61 has the Intel Integrated GMA X3100 965GM graphics chip (well at least it isn't the Quadro 140m...) equipped with the high-res 1440x900 screen. If I recall my previous T61 came with the 1280x800 screen but worked fine with Windows 7 so is it just down to the bigger screen? Just to let you know it works perfectly fine in Ubuntu Linux and Windows XP so I doubt its hardware related...

The problem is not specific to integrated or Intel graphics. On an Nvidia card I also see this. Seems to be website related. This one NBF is one of them where you might see it. the ability of pages to load and scrolling those pages is faster than in Vista but you get something similar to what you show. Its not really tearing but more like a blurring ie with certain HDTVs. I also have a WS like you.

Actually upon a more careful view of your screenshot I get nothing like that. But if you scroll some websites right after they load then there is the blurring I describe. Seems that W7 is faster but the GPU or LCD cant handle it or its a Java related issue. On my Windows Experience index the GPU is dragging the overall score down.

My R61 has the Intel Integrated GMA X3100 965GM graphics chip equipped with the high-res 1680x105 screen. It works fine with the latest drivers that came through Windows Update. (8.15.10.1867).
In fact, the display drivers are massively improved over those that came with Vista. It was never totally happy before with dual screens but Windows 7 loves standalone or dual screen setup. -
I take back what I said about being fine in XP, it became unstable and generated BSODs randomly soon after!
As the integrated graphics and RAMS are interlinked I decided to run Memtest86+ and indeed one of my newly acquired RAMS turned out to be a dud (from Crucial Micron too which is surprising) which caused all kinds of trouble on my T61.
I placed the original RAM back along with the other good RAM module and it all works fine now without any major hiccups. *touchwood*
