I'm really curios if it's time to upgrade my RC to an RTM version. if there is no improvement with the drivers, I could postpone the upgrade to the official launch.

I'm really interested to know if anyone had success especially with the fingerprint reader of Authentec.

I would... but I can't seem to find the beta drivers anymore. I tried the link in the sticked thread, but it 404ed

EDIT: nvm, worked when I typed the link in manually, but I don't see any video driver that applies to me (Quadro 570m)

EDIT2: Installed the Vista64 video drivers, and they seem to work

Working on Windows 7 install now, just two outstanding issues in DM:

    PCI Serial Port
    PCI Simple Communications Controller

I suspect at leat one of these has to do with Bluetooth.

Got the drivers for most everything here:

isn't everyone else jealous and annoyed that this select bunch got their hands on the RTM while we all have to wait for Oct 10 to arrive? :)

Benefits of being a student :)

Also, if you're a member of the national ACM or IEEE, you can get your hands on it now.

we got win 7 on msdnaa on friday. on friday i also got ma t42p off ebay. my impression is really good thus far, just to throw that in. i had some problems with audio dropouts, the reason was the 2200bg wlan driver. the solution was to replace the card with an atheros based card and no1802 bios fix. for me win 7 boots faster than xp and is a real succssor that should have been released instead of vista

I don't think you have so much to be jealous with. If there aren't any updated drivers or anything in the OS that allows the drivers to work better, the RTM version is useless to me. I will have to wait to the final release, hoping that lenovo will release better drivers then.

yeah i just installed to windows 7 and uh..... it installed ALL the drivers by itself. The only thing i needed to install were the ultra nav drivers, and thinkvantage programs like power manager and such. Amazing.

its pretty damn fast, the rumors are true.

Pay your money, get a TechNet Plus subscription, and you'll get it too.

That's how I got the RTM. Note: Using a 25% off coupon for the subscription is a good idea --subscriptions aren't cheap, but for the price, you get complete access to all of Microsoft's software, which would cost tons more.

    smart pants :)

since the release version sans release drivers is what I have (RC) minus the trim command (not needed yet), I can hold on for another year or so.

it was a cutesie on my part, not to be repeated to the likes of yous
