    Well apparently my computers serial number is invalid for the Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade program. It is the EXACT serial number that appears on the bottom of the machine (combination of letters and numbers) and the EXACT serial number on my order sheet.

    Well the option for "invalid" serial numbers is to fax or scan the proper information:

    Kindly proceed to submit your Proof of Purchase clearly indicating the Model and Purchase Date. You may send it by the following methods.

    So I print my order confirmation number with the shipping date, serial number, and model number. All the required information needed.

    I also included the two packing lists that were sent with my Lenovo T400.

    I faxed all of the required materials along with a cover sheet to be sent the following e-mail:

    We regret to inform you that your product is not in our record. Please check that you have entered correct model or serial number.

    What should my next step be? Do I call Lenovo or do I call Windows?

    I also find it bogus that I would only receive Win7 Professional 32 Bit for Vista Business 64 Bit. To receive Professional 64 Bit I need to have Windows Ultimate. Too bad the Lenovo rep. told me on the phone that I will receive the exact equivalent of whatever operation system I purchase, thus the ONLY reason I purchased Business 64-Bit. Also on the Lenovo Windows Upgrade Site they clearly show that:

    Windows Vista® Business PC --> Windows® 7 Professional

    How come I would need Ultimate to acquire my equivalent OS?

    Anyone have any opinions or help?

    Thanks.

    Nick

    You need to talk to Lenovo since Microsoft is leaving the upgrade program in the hands of the retailers. Although I can't tell you what format you're going to recieve Windows 7 in (either download or physical media), retail versions of Windows 7 come with both a 32-bit disc and a 64-bit disc, and the serial key will work for either version. If Lenovo only provides you with 32-bit media, all you would need to do is acquire the 64-bit version by yourself.

    Thank you very much, I will be calling a Lenovo representative at my earliest convenience.

    I was unaware that if I receive just the 32-bit version I can just purchase the 64-bit disc and use the same key.

    At least I know I am not the only one, hopefully they will have it corrected soon as stated.

    Thanks!

    You aren't the only one. Same thing happened to me.
