If we have Windows 7 disc, do we still need rescue and recovery discs? My guess is yes because I guess it doesn't include the drivers etc.?

rescue and recovery discs can make a win7 system with all drivers and ThinkVantage softwares, please notice , rescue and recovery discs can clean your all date on you HDD,and only left a c: & rescue and recovery system
If you want use a rescue and recovery discs ,remember backup your data on your HDD

Windows 7 Disc can install a new system on your c:,also can update you system from windows vista ,There are some drivers NOT included in this disc,So remember download new drivers an ThinkVange softwares from Lenovo website, you can also use ThinkVantage System Update to install them ,hehe

rescue and recovery discs can give you a new system with OEM information ,That means if you BIOS include SLIC2.1 ,it can auto active win7
Windows 7 Disc need you key to active you windows system

Hi, let me clarify: what I'd like to know is:

If I don't have rescue and recovery discs, and haven't made them myself, and only have Windows 7 disc. Then, in the event that my computer crashed (or whatever disaster that requires a rescue and recovery), can I get back to the original state? In other words, though Win 7 doesn't include drivers and other Lenovo applications (e.g. ThinkVantage, Fingerprint reader,...), will I be able to download all those stuffs once installed Win 7?

Yet anther question (sorry for being dumb): Is it even possible to install the Win 7 solely with the Win 7 disc, if my computer crashed, i.e. without the applications etc.?

You can download the ThinkVantage software from the Web.

It is possible to restore your computer with just a Win7 disk, since it contain generic enough drivers to get your online. Note, this use to not always be the case with Vista.
