I just installed Windows 7 ultimate Beta on my X200. At installation I let Windows 7 loaded drivers and used Windows update to update most drivers. Everything runs fine except I could not get the right drivers for SM bus controller, intel AMT, and the modem.

Windows 7 ultimate takes less space than Vista Ultimate and runs faster. Even in beta 1, it's very solid so far. I just wonder if anyone have any info about Windows 7 driver for X200's SM bus controller, intel AMT, and the modem?

    Thanks a lot for help!

I'm not exactly sure about how Windows 7 handles drivers, as I've only had it in a VM, but maybe it accepts Vista drivers (which you can obtain from the Lenovo site)?

I doubt there are any new drivers specifically written for Windows 7, as it isn't an official release to the general public.

Windows 7 takes most Vista drivers but not the ones for SM bus controller, Intel AMT and modem.

Is windows 7 a lot faster than Vista for those who have tried it?

Anyone gotten this to work yet (X200 with Windows 7) I'm about to install the 7000 build (Beta) but am hesitant if the drivers don't work and eventually affect my battery life...

I have it running on my x200... you can get Vista drivers to install for the above.. compatibility mode should be set to Vista... only thing I cant get up and running is Intel Turbo Memory...

Do any of you have the fingerprint reader up and running? I have everything up but the fingerprint reader and switchable graphics.

Overall is feels a little faster, not a lot. There definitely appears to be less thrashing going on.

I could be totally wrong, so don't take anything as red, but I have a vague recollection that they've actually totally dropped support for that in win7.

That still doesn't mean a 3rd party driver couldn't still be made to work at some point though.

Well I installed W7 as dual boot, so I still had a "DRIVERS" in the root of my "Vista" partition. So in the device manager I highlighted the "PCI Memory..." (oooopps meant the unknow device... )and upon right clicking... I selected "Update..." then "Browse.." pointed it towards the "DRIVERS" folder as above... and the rest is history.

BTW I installed the "old" video driver "/SWTOOLS/VIDEO" first, that might have helped, me no know... but hey it all works well and even the "Turbo Memory"... whilst I still cant check the "Readyboost" it no longer forces me to get only a "2" in the "Experience" index.... no lets me get a healthy "5.9"... hope this helps :)

Same here on the T61, it's the only missing device in the list. I tried both the Vista drivers and what Windows 7 suggests in the Action Center, both fail.

X200 on Vista, in my opinion is still pretty fast. It shuts down in about 5 seconds.

How did you guys even install windows 7? I have a x200s with vista 32bit and got through MSDNAA a copy of Win 7 64bit. I try to install it, but it does not work either burned on a dvd nor from a usb stick, since during the installation an error appears, that the installer can't find any drivers for usb devices or something similar.
