I clean installed windows 7 in T500 and i have an issue with the display. This is a brand new laptop and i never tried any other OS other than Win7, so not sure if this is an issue with the OS or with the hardware. Expert here, please advice. I have attached a screen shot to understand the problem. Screen sometimes looks like shown in the screen shot. If i mouse over, the blurr goes away. Please help.

Did you reinstall the drivers? It may or may not help, but go to BIOS and pick a graphic card to run on (if you have two).

Yes, just deactivate the integrated graphics and you will not have this problem any more.

I reinstalled driver, disabled BIOS integrated graphics. Issue is still there. Its less when i change to Windows & Basic theme. Could this be a problem with my hardware?

Looks like your GPU is overheating. I'd check to see if the heatsink is having full contact or simply send it in for warranty. I've had T43s with fuzzy graphics and tightening the springed screws around the heatsinks fixed the issue.. but these are older laptops that have had time to loosen up.

maybe try installing vista and see if the problem occurs. If not, then it is a software problem. If it does, then it is a hardware problem

My company has several T500 machines. Many of us have had this problem. Those of us running 64-bit versions of Windows 7 were able to make the problem go away with the latest beta drivers.

I'm still on Vista (32bit), I have the latest drivers and the problem comes and goes. I haven't tried disabling the integrated video on the BIOS.

I never had similar problems on my T500. I have been running Vista x64 and now Windows 7 x64 (RTM windows, latest beta drivers from ATI).

But I had similar problems with a previous laptop (that was not a Lenovo). It was sent in with warranty and got diagnosed with a video card problem (it too had an ATI card), which had to be replaced.

But I would try the tips you were given by previous comments: try Vista and also try newer drivers with W7. If they don't help, it is probably a hardware problem.

Have the same exact problem, with Windows 7 RC 64-bit :(

I have been using Vista 32-bit now for almost a year and have never seen this issue.

The problem seems to happen more when I switch (manually) to the integrated GPU. It also runs very hot. With the ATI GPU it less of a problem, but still runs a bit hot.

I tried installing the ATI Beta drivers but had a problem getting them to install correct. I will need to try it again when I get some more time.

I will need to call support if this issue doesn't get resolved, before Windows 7 GA.

I had something very similar to what your pic shows, except it only happens when I resume from sleep. Turns out it was the IGP driver that was causing it - reverting back to an older driver fixed it. Do you have integrated or dedicated GPU?

The threads you linked yourself all have people concluding its a GPU problem. Call tech and send it in?
