    Hello,

I have a Lenovo y510 laptop that I purchased from Best Buy last October. It's currently running Windows Vista SP2 and Windows 7 RC. I'm really enjoying Windows 7 and was planning to upgrade when it is released on October 22, 2009. I'm wondering since I do not have a Windows Vista DVD as my OS was installed at the factory and I didn't receive any disk only the partition with Vista, can I still use the upgrade edition of Windows 7 Home Premium? I would prefer to do a clean install but from my Windows ME  days I remember upgrading and it wanting to 'see' the Windows 98se CD for some file before it would do a clean install of Windows ME.

Can't help you but I'd also like to know how the upgrade is gonna work for those with Vista preiinstalled (either before or after the June 26 free upgrade offer started).

Going further, If I were to buy a T400 with Vista Biz today and use the downgrade discs to install XP instead, how would a Win7 upgrade work then? Would I have to reinstall the factory image of Vista fist, then upgrade from there?

I believe you should be fine. But then again it would be nice for someone who has done this to chime in. I too am about to preorder win 7 with the same issue you have.
