    Dear Friends,
I have a T60p with XP and Linux on it.

I was wondering if upgrading it to Windows 7 would work like this:
    (1) I download the ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 for Windows 7 onto a Flash drive.
    (2) Install window 7 to replace XP (wipe it)
    (3) Run the ThinkVantage System Update prgram to get all the proper dirives.

Would this sheme work? I hate the idea to deal with each driver separately...

Presently I have a partition manager on my TP60p and I can boot to XP or Linux. I could also make a third partiton for W7 could this work?

One last question. I have a choice of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7 and I heard that the 64 bit version really rocks. Is there any downside having the 64 bit version?

I apologize if these questions have been answered already.....

    Thank you for your advice.
    Peter

If your computer has 3GB or less, stick with x32. In my old computer I noticed that x64 was slightly slower at times, but ever so slightly. This was with a Core 2 Duo T5500

No downside to W764bit. All drivers there. U might have some tweaking to do to get B-tooth working but that's 'bout it.

3GB is the max memory for the T60.

Thank you your replies: - 32-bit it is then.

As far as concerining my installation question:
    >I was wondering if upgrading it to Windows 7 would work like this:
    >(1) I download the ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 for Windows 7 onto a Flash drive.
    >(2) Install window 7 to replace XP (wipe it) (or onto a new partition)
    >(3) Run the ThinkVantage System Update prgram to get all the proper dirives.

    Will this work?
    Peter
