My T61 is on its last legs. I'd have to put in a new hard drive, upgrade from XP, get a new battery. Might as well get something new, right?

I was checking what is for sale at the Lenovo Outlet and some had W8 SST as the OS. SST stands for Small Screen Touch. You would think a guy could find out something about this SST but you would be wrong. So I'm coming here to the illustrious Thinkpad forum to ask if anyone has used the Windows 8 SST version.

If I were to get a Lenovo with W8 SST could I upgrade for free to plain old W8.1? I'd rather just get something with W7 but my experience with XP support running out makes me think I should get an OS that has support far into the future.
