    Hello everyone,

I bought a y580 with just a 1 TB hdd and pre-installed with Freedos. I also have a Samsung 830 SSD with which I want to replace the HDD. I have a version of Windows 8 Pro N 32/64 bits from Dreamspark (formerly MSDNAA) and I want to install it on the SSD drive.

Unfortunately the Windows 8 installation fails after entering the product key from Dreamspark with the error message: The product key entered does not match any of the windows images available for installation. From what I understand a pre-installed product key should be stored in the BIOS, but this does not make any sense since the laptop does not come with Windows pre-installed.

I have tried to add ie.cfg and pid.txt to the iso file, but the results seem to be the same. I have even tried to install Windows 7 Pro and then upgrade to Windows 8, but to no avail.

What should I do next, because I am out of ideas and all the questions I have seen online mostly deal with laptops that come with a pre-installed version of Windows?

    Thanks

Update: Problem solved. The key received from Dreamspark was wrong.
