Hey I have been having a nasty problem for a very long time. Ever since I got this laptop its been pretty good most of my games ran well. However I didn't have any DX11 games. Now that I do they wont work. I get 1-3 fps or 10fps on any DX11 game with any settings. Thats right war thunder just updated to DX11 and runs at 2 fps on low where it used to run max at 45 fps. Batman origins... 10 fps. Bioshock infinite.. 3 fps. BF4... 12 fps. Batman arkham city on DX9 gets 50 fps and on DX11 it gets 10fps. I have been really frustrated about this problem for the past few months. Luckily college has been good enough to distract me from this problem. I have been trying so hard to fix it by doing research and updating drivers and such. But nothings worked. The only thing i do know is that my 3D Mark 11 test got normal graphic scores but got a super low physics score. it was like 2000 points less than all the other results I have seen with the y410p. I want to do a clean install and just bought an external hard drive I was just wondering how something like that would work on a machine with windows 8 pre installed and I want to restore windows 8.1. Do i need a key? What are your guys suggestions? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

if you want to update windows 8 to 8.1 just use the Microsoft store, but i recommend you to install full clean windows 8.1 or maybe downgrade to windows 7 like some other Y410p users...or you can use the restore utility from the pc setting to restore windows and reinstall it.

Downgraded to Windows 7 clean install on a SSD. At first i thought the default Win8(.1) was good enough for me, but downgrading and doing a clean install made everything so much better.

Your low physics scores have to do with your CPU. Make sure it does not throttle down to 2.4ghz when running the CPU+GPU test.
