I just tested it out right now. If you have the Power Management settings set to Maximum Performance while on battery only, the CPU can still access 100% Maximum Frequency.
The logical error occurs when the notebook is running ONLY on AC outlet even when the Power Management setting is set to Maximum Performance. With only AC outlet, the CPU Maximum Frequency has a ceiling of 54%. Once the battery pack is reinstalled, the Maximum Frequency goes back to 100%.
The High Performance Power Management setting is the same as well, but when only on battery, the CPU Maximum Frequency is capped at 36%.
Right around the same time i installed the newest 2GB memory module, i decided to test out some old games on this notebook. The notebook gets pretty hot when playing the games, so i decided to pull the battery pack because heat can reduce the life of the battery. I just never put two and two together.

Does upgrading RAM from 1gb to 2gb improve the performance of the integrated graphics card since it uses system memory? I would like more graphics performance out of my T61.

My score is 3.4 on a similar machine right out of the box.
Playmaker is very rude....most techie's are a little OCD, not? -
Stuff like this bothers the #@$@ out of me until I solve it or find it's unsolvable...
Best wishes -
