I use Vista 32 on my T61.. when I use the client to remote desktop into my desktop machine, i CANT use the scrolling function of the touchpad... it works with HP and Dell machines, just not Lenovo. WHen contacting Lenovo about this, they advised me that any tech support for Windows is chargeable and that they ONLY troubleshoot HARDWARE.
Does anyone know why it works on other brands of laptops but not with my Lenovo? The touchpad works normally on the machine itself, just not on a remote machine with remote desktop.
Thanks!!!

Sorry I can't replicate on my T61 with 32-bit Vista. I use Remote Desktop all the time, and no problem with touchpad scrolling.

Make sure you have the latest Synaptics touchpad driver downloaded for your machine. I believe they added functionality for certain programs with their last update.
-
From Synaptics or Lenovo Update?.... Maybe I just didnt update from Synaptics?? ... I can't believe this site is free.. and Lenovo Support sucks. They didn't recommend that. They just told me I would have to call Chargeable-Software-Support. *shrug* They are useless... unless i crack my screen or something to that extent.

I've updated the Synaptics driver. I still cant use the bottom or left side touchpad scrolling features. It just won't work. Any ideas??? The touchpad just works with remote desktop as a regular mouse.... no scrolling. What else can I try??
-
I have an R61 with Vista32 and I have the same problem with remote desktop. I can't scroll with either the touchpad or the scroll button and touchpoint. I'm connecting to an XP machine, don't know if that makes a difference? Latest drivers here also.
-
I wish I could show you my setup, but I can't. I am not having any of the issues you guys are reporting. 6460-66U is the model I'm using right now, and scrolling like mad.

I have a T61 6465 . I don't know what else to do. Anyone else have any ideas? I already upgraded the Synaptic drivers.... what else is there?
-
Any ideas? Anyone???

cowbawx, try this:
Go to C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP
Backup the TP4table.dat file.
Open the TP4table.dat file with a text editor.
Under the “Pass 0” section add the following:
; Remote Desktop Connection
*,*,mstsc.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9
Either reboot your laptop or kill the Synaptics processes (SynTPEnh.exe, SynTPLpr.exe) then start SynTPEnh.exe
Let me know if it helps. -
You're a very smart guy. Thank you oh so very much :-*

Thanks from me too. Worked like a charm
Out of curiosity I wonder why it works for some people without making that edit?

This solution works for me as well on a ThinkPad T61p running Windows XP Pro.
However, it does not work when I open a virtual machine using VMWare Workstation 6.0. In the guest OS, TrackPoint scrolling does not work. I used the same approach as listed above to add vmware.exe to TP4table.dat, but the magic didn't happen.
Anyone have any success getting TrackPoint scrolling to work in a virtual machine?
Thanks. -
I'm sure there are lots of us with this issue out there!
-
Dude, you deserve endless gratitude from us remote desktop addicts. This worked like a charm....
-
You are my hero!! Thank You!
As a matter of fact, I've gone through this problem with just about every laptop I've owned which had a synaptics touchpad in the past. I didn't find a fix up until a year or so ago when a friend pointed me to a some different drivers that were available. Now they seem to be easy to come by (with the exception of the T61 perhaps).
Anyway, I'm a heavy remote desktop user and I'm thrilled to have it back.
However, and there's always a however..
I noticed one other thing that doesn't work; It's silly, I realize, but it's worth asking perhaps. For some stupid reason, I can't scroll in iTunes. Do you think that a similar script like this would work for that as well?
BTW, Mine is a T61 with XP, but I don't think it really matters if it's XP or Vista. The fix seems to have worked the same for both versions. I just thought I'd toss that in.

Hello all,
I'm currently running on a recently purchased Lenovo Thinkpad SL300 with Windows Vista - Home Basic - SP1 (2GB RAM, 2.0 GHz Core II Duo, 32-Bit). I've edited the TP4SCROL.dat and TP4TABLE.dat, found under my APOINT2K file. I've inserted the:
'iTunes Scroll Fix
*,*,itunes.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9
into the TP4SCROL.dat and TP4TABLE.dat files, but no change has taken effect. My two programs that are giving problems in terms of not scrolling are iTunes and AIM.
Any help would be extremely appreciated! Thank you in advance!! -
so now its not working in windows 7.... i tried editing the tabel file and still doesnt work.... any ideas? :/
