I'm currently working with XP pro 32 bit and the max ram it allows me (3GB ram).
I use the X61 mostly for Photoshop and 3D cad and so the more RAM the better.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with 64bit OS on this machine and any drawbacks I would suffer due to driver incompatibilities, etc..
I need to know it all because I'm somewhat fond of some of the extra utilities that normally come with thinkpads nowadays.

Also, whats the largest ram capacity the mother board on this lappy can take? I either way couldn't find compatible RAM modules of more than 2GB each for a total of 4GB with two modules, has anyone seen larger modules?

Is the X64 "better" than the windows server 2003 OS which could also pick up RAM of over 3GB (from what I've heard, corret me if I'm wrong)

Thanks in advance for all your answers

    Amir

x61 can take 4GB of ram. 32bit OS XP and Vista will only recognize 3GB of ram.

Also Windows 2003 uses PAE to address the extra ram.
