    Windows license refunding?

    I heard lenovo will do this and I am about to buy a lenovo notebook that comes with windows vista basic that I intend on running solely in ubuntu, does anyone have any info on how to return the license and get money back? does the notebook have to be directly from them>?

    Microsoft allows you to return Windows Vista. I did it with my Vista Ultimate and got a full refund from Microsoft. I am not sure if the offer is only for retail products or if it will work or OEM as well.

    (Just checked, only for retail products :()

    has anyone tried this with Lenovo?

    Can I get a refund for the vista basic, if I have a retail version of vista ultimate?

    Some of the lenovo notebooks such as the Thinkpad T Series can be ordered (direct from them) w/ Linux pre-installed. AFAIR I don't think it's Ubuntu but you could always change that later. Have you considered doing that so you don't have to bother trying to get the money back?

    I've ordered an X61, and I didn't see any option for Linux.

    only like 3 models have the option of linux, the r61, t61 and something i cant remember >__> just go to the website and search linux

    There is no option for ordering the X61 with Linux.

    I think I will just contact lenovo.

    I never wanted pay for Windows! Why can't Lenovo offer trial versions? Sure refund must be possible?
