Who else has a windows product key on their brand new Lenovo laptop that is torn up, and missing almost a circle from the area the thin hologram wires go through? The one on my T60 was like this, and I had to stick some packing tape over the key, because parts of it was rubbing off, and I dont want to lose that number.

I noticed another guy in the Z61 thread the same torn sticker, and perhaps it was a big bunch off a roll that was bad?

Here is a picture of what I am referring to. Notice the top part is already really worn off. It reminds me of a laser printed sheet that didn't go through a fuser yet, and the toner just wipes right off. Perhaps a bad batch of sticker?

My sticker is worn in the same spot as yours.

My dad also has a t60 with a similar wear spot. Perhaps it's some kind of authenticity thingy?

Normal. It's M$'s new way to try and keep OEM software OEM.

Check out this thread in the Dell forum for more information.

Well, awesome for my own protection, but if I didn't put a piece of tape over it, all of the information would have been wiped off already and I haven't had it in my hands for a month yet.

The really odd part is every other MS COA sticker I have seen, had the glossy finish to it. Almost like a protective shield. Both the review C200 unit, and my C100 had it this way. One was Home, the other was Pro. It is only the Thinkpad T60 that had this cheaper paper sticker that wears away.

How exactly does tearing a hole in the label benefit ANYONE? It's ridiculous, and I am also worried that I'm going to tear it further by snagging it on something.

Yep, same thing on my T60. I wonder if it's someone's job to do that.
