Would constant wiping of dry lint-free microcloth on lid cause rubberized coat to wear off? Or am I just being paranoid and for all cases, it's only the lid edges that wear off? What's the exact thickness of the rubberized coat?

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Eventually it will just get worn away from normal wear and tear..

Pretty much what Hime said. I usually wipe down my lids with a damp paper towel and that doesn't seem to do anything as far as wear/tear go. Now, with the way I abuse my W520, it's pretty worn down my now (I'm actually starting to see brown areas near the corners... mag alloy?), but that's mostly due to the conditions inside the bookbag than a paper towel (or microfiber cloth).
