I have a R40 ThinkPad.I wish to add a wireless adapter to it so that I can connect it to a WLAN.What is the best that I should go for?Are there any compatibility issues I should be aware of?Has anyone bought anything like this from eBay/Amazon?

    Suggestions will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks

I have T30 and recently bought used (pull) Cisco Wireless mini-pci adapter(b) from eBay. It works great. But, Cisco driver does not seem to support WPA-PSK. Of course, WEP is supported and other versions of WPA are supported.

Before mini-pci card, I used to have netgear WG511(b/g) whose new drivers (supporting WPA) had conflicts with Thinkpads (not just T30, other models). There is fix in the netgear support page. Other than that, the netgear card is a good choice, too.
