Just got my T500. Looks nice so far. Was able to connect wirelessly to my work network while at work. It's an unsecured network.

Went home, connected to my network at home, but it's very, very slow, or it won't go anywhere at all, while my other computer work just fine. If i plug directly to the router without wireless, works fast. Any ideas?

I have the 5300 agn wireless card and a linksys router

Is your home network wireless-B, G, or N?

Shut down the firewall to see if that's an issue.

Have you tried releasing and renewing your IP? Does your router use mac address filtering?

I don't have a firewall up. Should I try getting a new router?

You could try that - if you have another router right now, try swapping routers to see if that specific router is just having an issue with your wireless card.

You might want to try and change the channel setting for the wireless network in the router. I had some problems when a lot of networks were present in my home area and they were all using the same wireless channel.

MAC address filtering is a pass or fail deal. If it is enabled and the MAC address of the laptop NIC card hasn't been added to the "Allowed" list then there would be no connection at all, not a slow connection.

Bought a Netgear N Router. Still doesn't work. I can't figure out the problem, but I'm about to return my T500 because I can't use it at home, which is the reason I bought it.

I have a netgear router at work, and don't seem to have a problem. I just can't understand it.

Try to update the drivers for your wifi card at Intels website.

so i went to my friend's house and tried my wireless connection there, and no problem.

so there's something at my home that's not working. i tried a different router, so the next step...even though i don't know how this would effect it, is trying a different modem.

by the way, i've updated my intel driver, updated the router's firmware as well.

I wonder if it is an interference issue at your home. What happens when you are next to the Wifi router with your laptop? Same issue?
