Hello. I've got an Thinkpad X301 Model 2776-P8U and I'm running Vista Business 64bit OS on it.
According to my hardware list, I have a Wireless USB PCI Express Half-Mini Card installed. Can anyone tell me what this card is for?
At first, I thought it was the wireless controller for 802.11 but I have an Intel WiFi Max card installed as well. To me, it would seem I can connect wireless USB devices to my laptop with it, like keyboards and mice.
I can't find any information in the user guides or manuals about it and the search I've done on the webiste seems to indicate that it is for WiFi.
Can someone clarify what this card is for please?
Thanks.
Stan.

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
Wireless USB is a new technology that is being created. It is supposed allow your computer to "speak" with wireless USB devices. The plan is to wirelessly communicate with devices like USB printers, harrdrive, mice etc, where traditionally they would be wired devices. I believe that these wireless devices will connect to a wireless USB hub which transmits and receives signals from your computer and the devices plugged into it. I don't know how much this technology has caught on and how much is it being used. Maybe in the future?

Thanks, Snake. Appreciate the info.

How do you know that you have UWB Wireless Pan ?
I ordered my tablet without Turbo Memory because I took SSD.
So I think I should have it ... but when I press Fn + F5 I dont see any option for it
Quote from Lenovo Shop
Code:Note: Selection of Intel Turbo Memory hard drive cache does not allow a configuration with Integrated UWB Wireless PAN.

Not much supports wireless USB right now and IMO not much ever will because it overlaps so much with wifi and bluetooth capabilities.

If you do, or don't, it doesn't matter. Nothing uses it. It's a technology that's dead in the water.

Oh my god I know but Lenovo is not concrete on this !
I want to know if I have free mini PCI-Express slot or not without removing keyboard or taking apart this beautiful tablet pc ! -

WUSB was an emerging technology 2 years ago, but never really took off. Now it's pretty much dead.
