I recently bought an R61 and forgot to add a wireless adapter to the machine. It already shipped so there is nothing I could do about the order. Would I be able to buy any PCI-e adapter for it and be good to go? Or would I have to buy an IBM branded adapter? Please let me know.

    Thanks

You need to buy any PC Card or Express Card adapter for your laptop.

I'm assuming a Dell 3945 branded card would work as well?

Yes, as long as it is for mini-PCI express.

Since he didn't order the card from lenovo, I'm pretty sure he can install a mini pci-e card, but the question is, do you think lenovo pre-installed the wifi antennas for him?

I don't think lenovo would do him a favor like that, I would call up lenovo asap, request a rebuild and pay the difference for the card. Request an RMA as well to send in your old one.

Well on my invoice, it states INTEGRWI-FI W/LESS UPGRADE. I am assuming that the antennas are preinstalled. The reason for not calling and issuing an RMA is because I got in on the cancelled deal.

Thanks again to all those that replied.

Bought an Intel 3945 card off ebay. Came in yesterday. It was a Lenovo branded one. Laptop came with three wires (white, black, and grey). Attached two of the three, and it installed automatically without a hitch.
Thanks again to all the replies.
