On the T60, there is a machine listed having "Bluetooth" as the wireless media. However, when looking into product information, only Bluetooth is listed and not the usual "ThinkPad Wireless a/b/g & Bluetooth" or "Intel Wireless." I'm sure that Bluetooth is in the machine IN ADDITION to a wireless card but correct me if i'm wrong.

RAM: Will I truly feel a performance boost from 1GB to 2GB, or should I save close to $200? BTW, I've looked at third party after market upgrades and it will end up costing more later - plus compatibility ect (atleast at this point in time).

Depends what you're going to do with it. I think 1GB is about right to run a ThinkPad with all the ThinkVantage stuff loaded and doing basic tasks. I guess you might want more if you're doing heavy-duty computing, though.

I don't plan on doing 'heavy duty' but I don't plan to do a clean install likely until the summer, if then, so performance may be hampered by pre-installed software. I can remove whatever I don't use. Just need to make sure that the ThinkPad wireless comes with it.

    Momo,

Funny you bring up this issue regarding the wireless. When I purchased my T60, the website only indicated that there was Bluetooth in my machine, so I purchased a wireless card. When my machine arrived, it did already have a wireless card installed so now I've got an extra.

I called Lenovo to complain about this. The first agent I talked to told me that my machine was advertised with Intel wireless, I just "had to look really hard in product specs to find that info". I called back to talk to another agent and got a completely different story. He told me that they had make a mistake on their end and that some models were in fact not advertised as containing the Intel wireless. On the Canadian website this has been corrected.

So, long story short, according to Lenovo, all T60 models ship with Intel wireless.

I can say that I wouldn't be happy with only 1GB of RAM, but I usually have between 50 and 100 firefox tabs open along with a bunch of other software, so even 1.5GB is a bit light.

I was hoping it would be the ThinkPad wireless (Atheros) card [if Intel - for that matter none - are listed]. I just wanted to make sure that in fact there was a wireless card and people were not using some sort of 'Bluetooth router' in a organization/home setting.

wierdo - you also have a relatively fast[er] processor on your machine, the one i'm looking at has the Core Duo 2.0GHz, as the price jump to a Core 2 Duo(with most other specs being equal) is unjustifiable in my opinion.

I recommend you to get the T60 first then if 1gb isn't enough, then you can always upgrade later. 200$ from 1gb to 2gb is a bit too much...

Yes i'd agree it is quite expensive but it will end up costing me more later (with delivery charges/exchange rates and all).
