    Hi

Started system update today and found a knew driver for the wireless card. Since the system was running so well I hesitated on installing it but then I thought it might improve battery life and that got me hooked :p

Just in case (never happened before so I though I was paranoid) I made a system restore point before I installed it.

So I installed it but when I then rebooted the computer it crashed so I had to do a hard-power-off.

Booting windows again and the wireless didn't work. Not even the indicator under the screen lit. I updated the driver and rebooted and the indicator stareted to work ut not the wireless card itself. Tried a bunch of methods of restoring the old driver but nothing worked when I remebered that I had done a system restore. So I tried to restore it but I got a message that it couldn't be restored (no reason for why not)...

I really have no clue as to why nothing have worked - never happened to me before and I start to think that thinkpad software is interfering with it somehow. Or that the driver simply killed my wireless card for good.

    Any ideas?

And oh its a x60s with the intel wireless card.

Might want to try the driver from Intel's site.

    Thanks.

Wasn't able to do that for a while since because I lacked wireless support I didn't have access to internet (no wired connections where I was).

Installing the intel wireless driver (from intels site) as I write and during the installation XP found some wireless connections, great :)

And after a reboot thinkvantage applikations can use the wireless too.

Still a bit puzzeled about what happened, if the driver needs some special installation or if all versions of the driver decided to die all at once.
Anyway, I'll just be careful about upgrading my wireless in the future unless I have some backup :p
