Ok, I have a really strange problem with my wireless connection on my T61p (6457-B68). It came with windows Vista, I installed Windows XP Pro and it ran fine for 3 months now. Since today the laptop shows a blinking cursor before showing the Windows bootscreen for around 15 seconds. After that the laptop boots as usual and the wireless connection runs fine and without any problems.

After a short time (3-4 minutes) the LED of the WLAN (below the screen) suddenly turns off. Windows shows no error or anything. I am unable to re-enable the wireless connection and have to reboot in order to get the connection back (so it fails again after a few minutes).

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling of the device, updating the drivers, but that did not help. I then discovered alot of entries in the System event log with the following information:

    Code:
    The description for Event ID ( 5005 ) in Source ( NETw4x32 ) cannot
be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information
or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may
be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help
    and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: ;
    Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN.
Because there is already a blinking cursor before the bootscreen shows up, it might be a hardware failure, but I am able to use the WLAN for a few minutes after the startup. I had a look at the BIOS and I dont know if there might be a wrong configuration causing that problem...

Anyone else had this problem before?
    Any solutions for it?

    Thanks in advance!

    Edit:
Hardware Version of the card is 1.1.40 and driver version is 11.5.0.32

I uninstalled the network adapter in device manager, then uninstalled the Lenovo connection manager software, and rebooted. The adapter reinstalled and I use windows to manage the connection... I didn't need the capabilities the Lenovo software provided and the wireless connection is more stable. It might help in your case, the Lenovo software can always re reinstalled.

Thanks for your answer. I dont have the lenovo connection manager installed and as I wanted to turn on the laptop today I didnt come by the Windows bootscreen. It crashes while loading. Safe mode works, but when I try to load Windows in Safe mode with Networking, it crashes after the login screen.

So either it is a BIOS configuration issue or a hardware issue, because I cant even load Windows without crashing in the bootscreen even when I turn the switch for the wireless card on or disable the card in the BIOS.

I will try to remove the wireless card physically and se if I am able to boot Windows. If that doesnt work either I'll try to reinstall Windows. I hope I dont have to send the laptop to lenovo :(

Alright, problem localized: For some reason the wireless card is defective. I removed the card from the laptop, turned it back on and it works flawlessly. So I'll have to get a new wireless card :(
