So I just got my t61p. I'm having problems with the wireless network. It connects to my router, signal strength is excellent, but it is very slow. It is pinging the router at 6ms. I have no idea how to use vista, and the router is not wireless n. Any idea on how to fix the wireless connection?

How is your router configured (DHCP)?

I have a problem with my wireless connection as well.I just got my laptop, created a new secured wireless network at home.It was working fine, then I updated my system thru thinkvantage and windows update. After update,my wireless started acting weird, every time I reboot,it is disabled,I have to go and repair it,windows reassigns my computer a new IP address and fixes the problem, but why did this happen?

    Hi,

Just got my new t61p - and can see that I have exactly the same problem as reported here.
I can wireless use local file-sharing (with high speed), but as soon as I try to access via a browser or mail it is slow (<5-10 kb/s).
My old t43p works without any problems.

have anybody found a solution? It drives me crazy.... Thanks - and happy newyear..

    /W

    Can you all mention:

...wireless card/unit being utilized (4965? usb? pcmcia? 3965?)

...security level being used (none, wep, wpa, etc?)

I have the 4965, XPP, and a new T61p....and it works well also.

But, what I found was that when I use WPA-PSK with AES encryption, the PC does have a little difficulty picking it up consistently especially after initial boot up.....backing off to WEP connects quickly and consistently to the router.

I have the same wireless issues with my 3 week old T61p (model 6459A12).

Wireless drops out all the time and then has trouble reconnecting. When the wireless does end up working, speeds are very slow.....

My wireless issues are ongoing and still unresolved.

Wireless problems are the most difficult thing for others to help with -often they are so local. I use the stock driver, and a Linksys 300N router. It connected out of the box at 144 mhz, and stayed connected continuously for the next 3 weeks. All I can say is that I don't think the problem is with the Intel wireless card in general. Problems like those reported are usually from a noisy environment, router incompatibility (wireless card/router compatibility is the worse case of manufacturer wars still left in the PC world - everyone is trying to establish their own standards, and stack things for their own cards...), or a flat-out defective wireless card, which is incredibly hard to diagnose, because of issues 1 and 2 above. Best way is to swap for a card that you know is working, but Lenovo makes that almost impossible by their antitrust-violating BIOS locks.

    Try this...

    1. Open Device Manager
    2. Find and double click on Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965GN
    3. Select the Advanced tab
    4. Find the Property Power Management and highlight it.
    5. Untick the use default value checkbox
    6. Change the value slider bar to Highest
    7. Click OK and enjoy
