since my t400's configuration included a wireless card, it should definitely have that card installed, but i'm beginning to think they might have made a mistake. i checked in the bios, and wireless is enabled. i also installed the driver for it. does anybody know why no wireless device shows up under network adapters? installing the driver seems to have done nothing. surely if the card was attached, it would at least show up in xp? i even checked the switch in front of the computer. it has been switched to the right, which probably means wireless should be on. any ideas as to what is wrong?

also, if the card does exist, where should it be located? maybe i can check for the presence of the card, because honestly it's not even showing up in windows, so it's entirely possible they didn't put one in by mistake.

Maybe your wireless switch is off?

Try pressing Fn+F5—which is another method to enable/disable the wireless.

When you press the Fn +F5 keys what happens? A Black box should appear where you can turn your Wifi and Bluetooth on and off.

The wireless card would look about like this:

It should be located on the bottom of the laptop, underneath an access panel, with two wires attached to it. Your owners manual should give you details about which access panel.

In the device manager, do you see and items with an exclamation mark next to it? (Any devices not yet installed.)

if this helps, i am using windows xp.

if by wireless switch you mean the switch on the front near the left, it's already switched to the right and green is showing, so i think it's on. besides, i already tried both positions, and it didn't make any difference.

as far as the device manager, there are no devices with a question mark or an exclamation mark next to it. there were such devices when i initially installed xp, but i installed the drivers for all of them one by one, and there are no such uninstalled devices left. as far as device manager is concerned, all devices are already properly installed.

finally, when i press fn + f5, a window with the title "change power settings of wireless radios" comes up. then it says "lenovo wireless adapters (802.11, WAN, or Bluetooth) are not installed on this system. the box "do not show this message again" is greyed out.
