Wish me luck; just placed another outlet order - hope this one won't get cancelled

I previously placed an order for a T61 which got cancelled ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=317389)

So since then I've been watching prices. I've been torn between refurb T61, T400, or X200. I like the 14" T400/T61 sizes, but really wanted something slightly smaller (ie. 13"). But since Lenovo doesn't have a 13", I've been torn between the X200 and T400. I finally decided I don't really need an optical drive most the time, so I've been watching the X200. There is an employee warehouse deal going on, so I found an X200 at a great price.

Now I just need for it not to get cancelled!

EDIT: bold should have been: since Lenovo doesn't have an AFFORDABLE 13" :>

    X200
    Processor - Intel® Core™2 Duo processor P8600 (2.40GHz, 3MB L2, 1066MHz FSB)
Operating System - Genuine Windows Vista Business
    Screen - 12.1 WXGA
    Memory - 1 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory,2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory
Hard Drive - 160 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
    Optical Storage - None
    Wireless - Intel® WiFi Link 5300, Wireless WAN card - Ericsson F3507g
    Warranty - 1 Year Standard
    Battery - ThinkPad X200 Series 9 cell Li-Ion Battery
    Features - TrackPoint
    Bluetooth - Bluetooth w/ antenna
Video Card - (No entry, but all have the standard Intel 4500)

I'll spill the price later if the order actually goes through.

Quickie update...still waiting to find out if I'll actually get it this time! However, an official order number was issued and the Estimated Ship Date is Nov. 28. However, I have someone who made a call to try to get it shipped earlier.

Now I'm going to brag on the deal a little bit. As I mentioned in the first post, there was an employee warehouse sale going on and I have connections. The price listed in the outlet was $980.xx. With the employee discount, it is $784.xx plus tax. Came to $837.xx. It seemed like a pretty smoking deal to me! Assuming I actually get it this time, I just have to decide on whether to pick up an ultrabase or an external USB drive and whether to extend the warranty.

Lenovo does have 13” models—the X300 series—but they’re a bit on the expensive side. Then again, perhaps you can use your connections to get one for a reasonable price.

Yeah...I tend to forget/ignore the X300/X301 due to the price. And I haven't managed to get one priced reasonably enough to go for it over the X200 or T400.

is your x200 new or refurbished? they usually ship faster than the given date. they test and ship. i called them in the morning and they shipped in the evening without any shipping email. i was surprised to see it the next morning. i don't know if my phone call helped. but they took 2 business days to just confirm my order and send in an email. after that it just took 2 days to ship and 1 day to receive.

what you got is a awesome deal. wish i found such employee discount when i ordered mine. but it is a new machine and saved me 350$ over the cpp :D .

Hope you get it! Earlier this year I placed an outlet order for a X61 Tablet. The serial number was the same as listed on the website when ordering but the specs were slightly off (diff HDD space and lower RAM spec - as if they swapped) and the entire LCD on the tablet was loose in the display and the bezel was barely on and no glue was present. Never will order a outlet item again.

It was listed as refurbished, so we'll see what it looks like when it gets here. Still have my fingers crossed that it actually ships, unlike last time. If it makes it, it is a really great deal. I spec'd it on the CPP site and it was $1240, so a refurb for $785 is just, wow. My contact is going to try to check on it tomorrow for me.

Yay! It is here! I've connected it to my home wireless network and am typing this message on it! I'll post pics later. So far, seems to be in great condition!

For anyone with an X200, is it normal for the left side of the keyboard/palm rest to be warmer than the right? It is not *hot*...at least not so far...system has been on about 40 minutes now...but left is warmer than right. I guess I can check out the X200 discussion thread...

Is this where the harddrive is? If so that side will be a little warmer.

Thats where the wifi is. The hd is under the enter key area.

Or actually maybe im think left side UNDER the laptop...

I am not sure what is under the left palm rest but I notice the heat difference as well. In general it is minimal.

http://jedicore.com/x200/DSC03049.jpg you can see the hard drive is on the right side.

I saw a picture which I think showed the CPU on the left side. It is pretty minimal though.

The CPU is in the left area but not near the palm rest. Though I do see a piece of the heatsink under the left area vent, so maybe it is the chipset/cpu heatsink extending to that area.

    I love a story with a happy ending. :D

Now... wish me luck on mine!I ordered the 19th and the laptop came from China to the US starting several days ago. It has been sitting in Louisville KY since yesterday morning "...SHIPMENT HAS NOT CLEARED CUSTOMS." So it looks like I will not have a new toy to play with over the holidays. <sigh> At least we'll have lots of comfort food. ;)

    best,
    hank
