    Got my new t61 yesterday!

What a solid notebook! I am delighted with it! I think it is too good for me!

It came with no CD for Windows so do I have to make one myself?
    Any pointers on this?

I paid $1005.00 before FW cash. I wondered if there is a price match in place for these?

NM - I found the thinkpad sticky. Is there an easier way to check if lenovo offers a lower price? Is my Model# unique to this spec build or would I have to spec it all out again?

    Thanks!

You will have to run the recovery media to make recovery discs. It should be under Rescue & Restore. You will need about 9 CD's (just in case you don't have enough).

If you want to create a full customizable/automated version of Windows XP, you can check out http://www.nliteos.com/. I've used this many times and it really digs into the nitty gritty and lets you change it all prior to the install. Here's a little blurb from the site. Let me know if you have any questions.

I received my T61 15.4 inch couple days ago also. I have the Quadro GPU and PC-Doctor reports 512MB video memory. I believe the spec said 128MB when I placed my order. Do they start installing 512MB across the board now? Of course I am not complaining at all. :)

The QUADRO is only offered in the T-61P models. The 15.4" T61p has 256MB (max). I think your reading is off.

That might be including the shared memory if you have Vista. I would just go to "Device Manager" and look at the properties of your video card. It will give you separate values for "dedicated memory" "shared memory" etc...

It is shared memory, even in XP. I have nvidia quadro 570m w 256mb of video memory. system resources report 512mb video memory:

    Name NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M
    PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_040C&SUBSYS_20D917AA&REV_A1\4&171B8011&0&0008
Adapter Type Quadro FX 570M, NVIDIA compatible
Adapter Description NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M
Adapter RAM 512.00 MB (536,870,912 bytes)

I should have made it clearer in the first place. I have the Quadro NVS 140M, not the Quadro FX 570M offered on the p models.

I am running XP, but I will double check when I get home tonight per your suggestion.
