It's not easy getting everything pinned down for a new order... at least not for me. Would anyone happen to know for sure if you can burn the recovery disks from the original installation of Vista (premium or ultimate), then change out with a new Hitachi HD and dupe the original install to the new drive with the recovery disks?... or better to place the new drive in the bay and use a clone utility to go from the original drive to the new?

Sure is handy to have a group of nice folks to answer questions for a new (soon) Lenovo owner.

    Thanks for any help... Quinn

    ZaZ, I'm confused.

If you can install the factory image on any HDD, wouldn't this make it so you can install it multiple time on multiple computers?

    Quinnk,
My T61, received 2/5 came with recovery disks. So, you will not have to burn copies.

    Arkit3kt,
I think the recovery disks have some kind of check that prevents them from working if computer's bio is not what it expects. I think the same is true of factory image HDD.

Hmm, I guess Lenovo is shipping recovery discs with orders now. That's good news.

Ahh the BIOS. That makes sense. Thanks Davideo.

I expect that, if you examine those recovery disks closely, you'll find that they are for XP.

Hmmm, I'll definately check those disks when I get home tonight.

    Thanks for the warning.

In theory you could install it on multiple drives.

I think they only send out XP discs with Vista Business or Ultimate.

Yeah, those recovery disks should be XP disks.

But the drives could only be used with the original notebook from which the factory image came from, right?
