That DIMM is not sitting correctly...not inserted all the way.

Yeah
Took them out to try again right after posting the photos, this time they went in farther and It was way easier to install, just push down and it pops in.
I thought the way I did it was correct because the stick already installed was positioned in the same way, it didn't click into the empty semi circle slots. It boots up to desktop and shows the 4gb of ram so everything works fine.
To get back to the hot key problem. Drivers/programs I have installed are: integrated camera installer package( is it needed for the camera to work? I'll see if it does after the next clean install), intel graphics media accelerator drivers, lenovo power management, lenovo system interface driver, on screen display, thinkpad full screen magnifier, lenovo system update and power manager.
A little side note, I did a speedtest between using 5ghz and 3.2ghz on my router and 3.2ghz actually did better with 5 more download speed and .9 more upload speed mbps. I'm assuming It's because I don't have the wifi drivers, how do I get those? I try googling the modle number, nothing comes through. -
Hmm... onscreen display did it for me. (And generally no other lenovo utilities installed here - no thinkvantage, for example.) And the settings for it seem to be accessible by going to screen res settings, advanced settings, on screen display tab.
As for wifi drivers, intel's site does show 4965AGN in the list of drivers. -
messing around on the computer, went under program files > lenovo > hot key theres a program called tpfnf6, when I hover it says Hotkey and when I double click it, it says to use this key combination, please install thinkvantage communications utility verison 1.4 or above.
I installed it from here, ThinkVantage Communications Utility for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad, ThinkCentre - Lenovo Support (US)
Still tells me the above, went into communication utility in program files, I see a TPFNF6 labeld FNF6 OSD, same error as above. -
Going to give it one more day before I give up on it, still can't figure out what to do about it.
Also, how do you know if the battery is done charging? it seems to show a orangish/red battery icon when its dying and then goes green after a while but when I turned it on it wasn't done charging. -

Is the mute button considered a hotkey? -
I recommend the X301. Same chassis, newer CPU/RAM/GPU, and it even supports multitouch! The X300 does not.
-
Not all X301's support multitouch. Only the models with Synaptics trackpad do.
-
Any benefit (either better performance or additional battery life) from upgrading the SSD in these? Looks like there are some options (either 1.8" drives or msata drive converters), but not cheap.
-
I ended up testing the disk reader and it works! Even thought I'll probably never use it~
If anyone finds some tips on how to fix this mute button I'll be forever thankful! I'm starting to feel like it a option inside windows might be stopping it from working. -
Anyone found anything for the mute button! Still can't get it to work. >_> I like to have the computer muted when not using a headset, and unmuted when using so I get used to just taping mute/unmute on my ASUS that I keep forgetting I can't do it on the thinkpad.
