Hello I know that there is not much on the X100e anymore, since it's been over 2 years since introduced. I have a T61 as my main machine, but looking at this one for $140. It's has a MV40 single core and I know that it has limitations, but can you stream videos and basic web browsing on this machine? Thanks for any info.

From Engadget's review of the X100e. Lenovo ThinkPad X100e review -- Engadget

For what you want to use it for, the X100e is a pretty decent machine. Not the quickest, but it'll get the job done.

I have an x100e. Don't use it so much as I've just got an Ideapad S206. The x100e is quite good, when plugged in it is more than capable of being used to watch films. However, unplugged and it starts to stutter quite a bit. I upgraded the harddrive to a 7200rpm one in the hope that it would help- didn't.
For the price though its very good, runs better on Windows 8 than on XP or Windows 7.

Thanks privatejarhead. I thought for $140, it may be a pretty good deal and it does have 2gb of ram and a 250gb hard drive.

Yes I was wondering about Windows 8 on this as well. Glad to hear it runs pretty good on it.

not too surprising, seeing that Win8 is really more of a tablet OS and thus is meant to run on lower-powered hardware

X100e with single core shouldn't cost more than 100 dollars, and it is very slow. You can stream low resolution videos and do normal web browsing just fine.

Yes after doing some thinking, I've come to the conclusion that even though it is a secondary machine, a single core is not the way to go. I will probably be looking at a L335, E-350 or the like in amd. In intel I may look again at an SU7300 or similar. I had one at one time and it was fine for what I did with it. I'm looking to keep it under $200 on ebay and there are many options for sure.

i think for 200 dollars you can get a X200, which is a smarter option in terms of battery life and CPU power (and low heat output).

I concur lead org! I have an X200 with a P8600 (full voltage- no ULV here) and 4gb of RAM. It flies through my school work and handles being crammed into my backpack with books and other miscellaneous nick-knacks. I have a 9-cell battery which gives me about 4 hours of light web browsing and document work. My 9-cell battery is a bit old and has noticeably degraded since I bought it so I would expect more hours of use with a fresh 9-cell. Do not let the extra width a 9-cell battery imparts on the X200 to be a nuisance as it is really quite the opposite. It provides stability while transporting, still allows for a light weight, and still allows the screen to lie 180 from a closed position. I also have a flush fitting battery but that is sitting in a drawer unused. I often am not without access to a power port so the 9-cell by itself is sufficient. I often see people at the university I am attending lugging around laptops that are ~15" which makes me thankful that I have my X200. My X200 had a warranty that started on 10/19/2008 which means it has been around for 4 years now and is still proving its worth. There are more pros definitely for owning an x200 if you do not have expectations for it to be a graphics powerhouse the Intel X4500MHD should be capable for all your needs. The X4500MHD so far has played all types of video codecs I have thrown at it. I love my X200 but at this time I am looking to perhaps move on and try an X-series tablet. I may give my X200 to a family member at some point. Good luck :)

Yes they look like awesome machines for sure. Although it's a 14 inch display, my T61 is still a workhorse and solid as a rock. I don't see getting rid of it any time soon, but may use it more as a desktop. I love my T61, just looking a little ultraportable to carry around.

Just a thought, but would an X61 be worth a punt? They seem to be a pretty cheap at the moment and as long as you're happy with the trackpoint a lot better than an x100.

X61 is pretty good. I got a T8100 model and modded the bios firmware to allow a Intel 5100 wireless card to be fitted.
