I would appreciate if someone could direct me to a list of compatible harddrives to pick from for my IBM T60 type 2623-D6U.

I have found the Thinkpad 120 GB 5400 RPM Serial ATA Harddrive for $129.00 model 41N5691 is this fully campatible??????

I would also like to know the specifics of my 60 GB HD such as Cache, SATA 150 OR 3.0GB,CONNECTOR FORMAT,Form Factor,Thickness???

I am searching various vendors to save a little, obviously several on this forum will not recommend this. What is the overall concensis based on experience????

What are the likely problems I will face in doing this exchange??????. My current Harddrive is no longer operational. I have a recovery disk which I assume has the XP Pro SP2 Operating system. I just want to start over and get a factory fresh operating computer hopefully very reliable.

All help based on experience is appreciated.

    Welcome to NBR odavid! :)

its a 2.5 inch SATA HDD... It is replaceable by any 2.5 inch SATA HDD :)

    I'd recommend a 7200rpm 200gb, findable on newegg.com

    IE: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148307

as for re-install, the hardest part with a ThinkBrick will be actually swapping the HDDs... Which isnt hard, after that it's insert disk... Boot from it and install windows :)

Since they're all the same form factor, all 2.5" SATA drives should work. You may have to set the HDD to compatibility mode in the BIOS though. I've swapped many times and haven't really had an issue with compatibility.
