i was thinking about getting a boost in ram for the T40. the name of the memory chip is: Axiom AX - Memory - 1 GB - SO DIMM 200-pin - DDR II - 667 MHz / PC2-5300

im not really good with laptop. can someone tell me if this would work on my T40?

It would not. The T4x series supports DDR RAM, so you'd be looking for a stick of RAM at DDR333, or PC2700.
