Would you buy Thinkpad Z61m for $1,293 over Asus Z96j and HP NC8430?

I have a student disccount for an IBM Thinkpad Z61m with a special student 3-year acccident warranty for $1,293, and I was wondering if this is a better deal than other alternatives:

    Specs:
    Core due 1.83mhz processor.
    ATI X1400 128MB video card.
    15.4" WSXGA+ screen.
    1 GB RAM.
    80 GB 5400 rpm HDD.
    CD/DVD burner.

I am looking for 15.4: WSXGA+ computers, and my alternatives are the Asus Z96j and HP NC8430, both of which have stronger graphics cards.

Is the Thinkpad the clear winner here? Just how much is the 3-year accidental damage warranty worth? Is the Thinkpad build quality and casing significantly better than the other two above?
