Would you sell a laptop you use a few times a month ??

    Good day all,
Well, here's my story. Last (I think it was November, or there abouts) I wanted the BEST laptop out there for portability (for when I go on vacations, short trips, etc.). So, I ended up buying the X301 in my sig. brand new from Lenovo.
Now, I find myself using it only a few times a month. Heck, since I bought it I've probably turned it on 8-10 times total, it probably has about 8 hours use on it, if that.
I LOVE my X301, I think it's the BEST thing since sliced bread (it's fast enough for my needs, it has a DVD drive (which is a MUST for me), it's SUPER light, and it feels 100% better in build quality than my T61. BUT, even with all of this, I'm thinking of selling it, just due to the fact that I very rarely use it. I'm on my T61 everyday for 4-5 hours per day, everyday since I bought it in Feb. 2008.
I know I'm taking a HUGHE hit if I sell my (basically new) X301, but what you YOU do ? Keep it, or sell it ?
Right now, I'm just thinking of keeping it, and just using it like I have been for the past few months. This is a very rare computer that Lenovo will probably NOT be updating anytime soon (especially with the new X201s series out, the X30x series is probably dead in the water anyway). So, I'm just considering myself lucky that I got probably one of Lenovos last X series with a Cd/DVD ROM drive with a 13 inch screen.
Also, I DID take my X301 when I went to Arizona last month, and was AMAZED by how much lighter it was to carry around the airports than my T61 was. It's like half the weight of my T61.
So, keep or sell , what would YOU do if you were in my situation ??

EDIT: In order for this post to be tied in the Lenovo fourm, let me also add this question. Would you consider selling BOTH my X301 AND T61, and just buy a X201s and be done with it ? Or maybe a "W" series laptop ?
All I use my laptop for (99% of the time) is on my desk at home on the internet, on web fourms, watching movies, word documents, etc. NOTHING too graphic intensive (heck, I NEVER game on my laptop lol). But, I do use my laptop a LOT and would probably want something that will last me 3-4 years of use.
Or, would you just keep two lappys (the X301 and use it just for traveling) and just keep using the T61 like I've been doing ? The T61 is a SUPER machine and has been the best laptop I have ever owned FYI

I am not sure how much money you would get out of the T61, but the X301 still have kept much of its resell value.

So sell the X301 and get the X200s or X201s that you have mentioned. If you don't take the laptop on the road a lot, then W510 is a great purchase, in which case you could also sell the T61.

Well I wouldn't keep 2 laptops if I'm using one of them just a few times a month. Have you considered the T410s? It's 3.9lbs with the DVD drive.

I personally use an X200 with a docking station (see my signature). It allows me to have a good dual-monitor setup at home, and a 3lbs ultraportable for bringing to school. I like the fact that it uses a regular-voltage CPU, so it's really no slouch using it at home.

    Thanks everyone !
I may just end up putting my X301 up on Ebay and see what becomes of it.

Just curious.. where can I find this information about my own laptop? Is it recorded somewhere, or is this an estimate that you're making?

The laptop doesn't keep a record of this anywhere that I'm aware of. What people are using to find this information is really about their hard drive, not the system itself. You can use a utility called Speedfan to read the SMART data from your hard drive and give you this info. But again, this info is about the hard drive. This assumes you've always used the same hard drive in your system. I'm also not sure if the "Power On Hours Count" from SMART statistics keep counting if the system has spun down the hard drive due to inactivity (even though the system may still be running). Also, the "Start/Stop count" may actually also count the times the hard drive restarts after being powered down due to inactivity, so this would not be relevant to how many times the system has started and stopped, just how often the hard drive itself has started and stopped.

I'd be curious about what happens here.

I've got a kind-of spare Thinkpad X61t that I rarely use, though I am using it this week because my main notebook will soon be out for RMA.
