So, I received a phone message today saying that I have an outstanding invoice for my X200. Upon checking the invoice online, it shows that I owe Lenovo/IBM $1800 over a Bluray burner. The funny thing is, my X200 doesn't even have an optical drive, nor does it have an ultrabase that I can put the bluray burner in.![]()
Furthermore, the name on the invoice is a complete stranger to me, while the location that is charged is the state of Wyoming. (I live in California)
The only reason I'm concerned is because in the phone message, the operator mention my X200's machine type, plus the correct serial number of my machine. She obviously has my phone number to reach me as well. I'm afraid that there has been some terrible mix-up here.
Any comment or advice is greatly appreciated. I also emailed Mark regarding this. Hopefully he can help me restore faith in Lenovo.

Call back. Be firm, but polite. That always works best for me. It's probably a typo somewhere in the system. There's not sense in getting worked up until you know it's going to be bad.

They haven't charged your cc or anything right? You just have an outstanding balance? Good luck
-
Thanks jaredy. Yeah, they haven't charged my cc yet, luckily. I'll definitely give them a call on Monday, Zaz. Thanks for the tip. Hopefully this is just a minor misunderstanding.

One thing you migh consider doing is to call your CC company and block any charges over a certain amount. Sort of a preemptive defensive strike. -
Well, gave them a call today. Best thing they can do is to open a dispute on the charge. Should know the outcome within the next few weeks.

I never gave them my credit card number to begin with so I don't think I have to do that. But maybe you're right. I suppose I can give them a call just to be safe. Thanks.

identity theft is quite often these days, although this doesn't seem to be your case since they have your serial numbers of your X200.
Call back to lenovo would help you find out whether the call you received earlier were actually from lenovo. -
I just did that. I bought the machine from somebody else, so it's possible that the person records the serial number and order parts at my machine's expense. Luckily they don't use my name or address, though.
Wrongly charged $1800 by Lenovo, need advise
