Hi there, I hear IBM makes just about the best built notebooks. I just returned a Dell Inspiron because of the flimsy build quality. They're not what they used to be.

So, are the X Thinkpads just as solidly built as the rest, such as: T, G, And R models?

    Thanks much!

They most definitely are, it's the same construction and shell material. The new X40 also has the shock protection hard drive to prevent data loss in the event of the laptop being dropped/kicked whatever.

Which Dell did you buy and then return?

Hi there... Great, gounds good. I'm probably gonna order by late tomorroow morning. Although I wonder if they can deliver this week.. I suppose I MIGHT be able to hack it out with a "built" model, or so.

Yes, the Inspiron.. 8600 w/ Wide-SCreen. They are just not consistent, and I've read many posts on the Dell Forums. And the screen intensity wasn't as bright on the right most portion of the sreen, from top to bottom (if you will). There's just all this talk about different suppliers, this that. I mean cmon, I thought Dell was ok, but now it seems it's a crapshoot.

    Thank You much.
